👋 Hi @cathywang, welcome to the Box Community!

When your domain and email address are updated by your company, your previous folders and files are not lost, but they may become inaccessible or require specific administrative actions to restore depending on how the change was executed:

  1. Content ownership and collaboration severance:

  • If your previous account was deleted or deprovisioned during the email/domain update without first transferring ownership of your files, all collaborations on those folders are severed. However, there is a 14-day grace period during which Box Product Support can recover your deleted content and restore your previous folders.

For assistance, please submit a ticket to our Product Support. Click here if you’re unable to login or not seeing the option to open a case.

  • To preserve collaborations seamlessly, it is always recommended to transfer folder ownership before deleting or deprovisioning an old account.

  1. Admin Content Manager restoration:
  • If your folders were moved to the Trash during the transition, your Box Administrator can restore them using the Content Manager in the Admin Console.

  • The Admin can navigate to Admin Console > Content > Content Manager, expand your user profile, access your Trash, and restore the folders. If the original location no longer exists, the Admin will be prompted to select a new restore location.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any other concerns.
