Question

Is there a way to override the Admin email address that end users see?

In the places in Box that tell the end users to contact the admin, or when developers submit an app for approval or whatever, they are automatically directed to the email address of the Box Admin account.

We are in a situation where we might need to change the Box Admin email address, but wish for users to still see the email address we currently have when they are told to contact an admin. We would also like the app approval requests to go to the current email address.

So, in summary, we want to change from email address A to email address B but for A to still be where the emails go. Is this at all possible? Like by setting the notification email address on the admin account to email A?

👋 Hi @jbuck-palig, welcome to the Box Community!

Box only displays the primary admin’s email as the “Admin Contact” for end users, and this field can’t be customized or overridden. Given what you’re trying to achieve, you may consider:

1. Updating the primary admin email

  • You can change the primary admin’s email to the address you want end users to see and contact.
  • This becomes the admin account’s actual login email.
  • If you still want messages to go to the original address, you can pair this with email routing on your mail system.

2. Using email forwarding or a distribution list

  • End users see and contact email B.
  • The admin continues receiving everything at email A.
  • Please reach out to your IT team to check the email forwarding and distribution list setup.

In addition, I recommend upvoting these existing requests in Box Pulse so our product team can evaluate our user’s needs and track demand:
