This would be handy, indeed! At the University of Arizona, we also use Retention policies and would love to run a report to show the age of files so that we can communicate with the appropriate IT staff before the retention policy applies to said content.
I agree, triggers for Relay on a date field whether create, modified or a metadata field with operators for XX number of days before and xx number of days after would be pretty handy.

You might want to consider generating a Retention Report from the Admin Console > Reports. This report provides details about a specific retention policy, along with a list of all the files the policy covers. I believe the report information under Policy Time Period will be helpful for you. However, I’m not certain if an admin can set a specific number of days for the report (e.g., 160 days). I’m currently confirming this with our Product Support team and am awaiting their response.
