how to know who delete the file and let me know how to restore the deleted the file

I remember that some files were saved in Box, but now I can’t find them.

I would like to know:
1. Who deleted the files
2. Whether the deleted files can be restored

Could you please let me know how to check the deletion history and restore the files?

I am not a Box admin, but I would like to know whether an admin can check who deleted the files and restore them.

I am not currently an admin, but would it be possible to request co-admin access from the administrator?

If so, could you please advise how I should contact the admin or submit the request?

👋 Hi @young97, welcome to the Box Community! Sorry to hear you’re having trouble locating some of your files. I’m here to help.

You can start by checking the following:

  • Your own Trash in the web app: open Trash → use the search box and enable “Only search inside of Trash.” You can filter by Items I own or Items I deleted to narrow results. (see Managing Trash to learn more)
  • If a collaborator deleted an item inside a collaborative folder, the deleted item appears in the trash of the person who deleted it and in the folder owner’s trash. (see Collaboration FAQ)

What an Admin or Co‑Admin can do / check:

  • Run a User Activity Report to view deletion events, including actions from deleted users.
  • Use Content Manager (Admin Console → Content) to browse a user’s account and Trash, preview/restore files, or permanently delete items if permitted.

You may want to reach out to your organization’s Box administrator (your IT team or whoever manages Box) and request the appropriate Co‑Admin permissions if needed. If you’re a managed user, you can find your Admin Contact by going to your profile (upper right corner) → Account Settings → scroll to the bottom.

Let us know if you have any other concerns.
