👋 Hi @ben Zhuo, welcome to the Box Community! I’d be glad to assist.

Here is how you can check folder activity and restore deleted files:

1. How to check folder edit and activity history

You can track collaborator interactions and edits within a folder using the Folder Activity features:

  • Folder Activity Tile: When viewing a folder, the Folder Activity tile displays a line chart showing detailed statistics of collaborator interactions over the past 90 days (by default). You can hover your pointer along the graph to see how many collaborators interacted with files at any given time.
  • Filtering Activity: You can filter this data by collaborator type (All, Internal, or External) and date range (Last 30, 60, 90 days, or a Custom range).
  • Downloading Reports: You can click the Download Report button to generate and download a detailed Folder Activity Excel spreadsheet of the active data.

Admin Content Manager: Box Administrators and Co-Admins can also run a comprehensive User Activity Report from the Admin Console to track specific actions like file modifications, moves, and deletions across folders.

2. How to restore a deleted file

If a file has been deleted, it is moved to the Trash rather than being permanently deleted immediately. You can manually restore it using the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Trash: Open the Box Web Application and go to your Trash folder.
  2. Locate the File: Find the file you want to recover. You can use the search bar or filter by “Items I own” to find files deleted by collaborators in folders you own.
  3. Restore the Item: Hover over the row of the file you want to restore, click the More Options (…) ellipsis, and select Restore.
  4. Original Location Check: The file will be returned to its original folder location. If the original parent folder has also been deleted, Box will prompt you to select a new restoration folder location.

Note: Deleted items typically remain in the Trash for 30 days by default before being permanently deleted, though your organization’s administrator can customize this retention period.

To check a folder's edit history and restore deleted files, the exact steps depend on the platform you're using (e.g., OneDrive, SharePoint, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.).

In most cloud storage services:

  • Open the folder and look for Version History, Activity, or Recent Changes to see edits.

  • Check the Recycle Bin or Trash to restore deleted files.

  • If versioning is enabled, you can often restore previous versions of files.

  • Administrators may have access to additional audit logs and recovery options.

If you're using a collaborative environment, restoring deleted content may require admin permissions.

Just as version history is important for document management, educational platforms such as QuranPakTutors.com rely on organized content management and backup practices to ensure learning materials remain accessible and protected.

Please let us know which platform you're using, and we can provide more specific instructions.
