Has anyone found a way to report on consumption in a meaningful way, what I would like to see is which users and which parts of box have used units so that we can identify adopters and higher cost activities.

      👋 Hi ​@marksmyth, thank you for reaching out! If you are looking for a way to report on Box AI consumption (specifically to see which users and parts of Box are driving usage), Box provides several complementary tools in the Admin Console to help you get this visibility:

       

      1. Admin Insights Dashboard (High-Level Overview)

      • Where to find it: Admin Console > Insights

      • AI Units Tile: Shows your organization's overall AI unit consumption against your allotment for the current period.

      • Total AI Activity Tile: Displays the combined count of user queries and chargeable API calls, along with trend analysis. This tile tracks usage across newer AI features like Q&A, Text Gen, and Metadata Extract, giving you a great executive-level snapshot of total demand.

       

      2. User Activity Report (Per-User AI Query Detail)

      • Where to find it: Admin Console > Reports > User Activity Report

      • Under Action Types, filter by the AI Activity category (which includes AI query and Failed AI query). You can filter by date range and export the results as a CSV.

      • The exported report includes User Names, Dates, Action Types, and Item details. You can easily run a pivot table on the CSV to rank your users by activity volume and identify your top adopters.

       

      3. Platform Insights (API-Level Consumption)

      • Where to find it: Admin Console > Insights > Platform tab

      • Chargeable AI API Calls Tile: If your organization uses Box AI via custom apps or integrations, this tile shows the total number of chargeable AI API calls made during the current calendar month.

      • Top Platform Apps Tile: Shows the top 5 apps making the most chargeable API calls, helping you pinpoint which specific integrations are driving consumption.

       

      To get the most complete picture, we recommend starting with the Admin Insights Dashboard for your high-level trends, and then exporting the User Activity Report to CSV to identify your specific power users and adopters.
