Hi,
I have a question about notifying collaborators in Box that I've not been able to find an answer. Here is my question: Is there a way to only notify certain collaborators about a comment or change on shared file? For example:
  • Let's say that I have a shared parent folder with 5 collaborators
  • I want to make a comment on a file in a folder within the parent folder
  • I want to notify only 1 of the 5 collaborators that I made a comment
I've used the "@" feature to notify 1 person but I think that all collaborators still get the notification that a comment was made. It's fine for all collaborators to be able to view the comment if they access the document, but is there a way to only notify certain collaborators that the comment was made?

Thank you,

Hi Darrell,

Welcome to the Box Community!

It depends if the user has enabled the 'comment' notification in the folder settings of the folder they've joined.

Users would have to adjust their notification settings on the Folder if they wish to disable or enable the notification for this specific action. Please take a look at this article for further details: https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043696014-Understanding-Box-Folder-Settings#sharedlinkaccess

Thanks for your participation in the Community!

This feature needs to be implemented. I can't ask expect every external user to change their settings for constantly changing folders—what a hassle. Right now, as Darrel mentioned, every person gets the notification, which is pointless and annoying for other collaborators.
