Request for ECCN and Classification Documentation under FEFTA for Box Usage by Overseas Members

We are currently using Box in Japan. As overseas members will also be using the service, export control procedures are required. Therefore, we would like to request the provision of supporting documentation for ECCN and classification under the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act (FEFTA).

We were unable to find ECCN information on your website, so we would appreciate it if you could provide the relevant details. Additionally, if documentation supporting the classification determination has been prepared, we kindly ask that you provide that as well.

      At this time, we do not have public documentation for Box’s Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN). However, our team has provided the following:

      • ECCN 5D992 for Box Desktop Diagnostic Tool; Box Drive; Box Edit; Box Mobile Applications; Box Notes Desktop; Box for Office; and Box Sync.
      • ECCN 5D002 for Box APIs.


      Regarding classification under the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act (FEFTA), you may coordinate with our Compliance team to determine whether they can provide the necessary information and documentation.
