How do I integrate Box Sign with Salesforce Revenue Cloud?

We are in the process of setting up Box Files and Box Sign in our new Salesforce instance and have run into a scenario regarding document generation. In Salesforce Revenue Cloud, when a contract is being created, it cannot be directly used in Box Sign. It seems that the file needs to be added to Salesforce Files or Box first before it can be used in Box Sign. Is this correct?

Since the document is not natively saved in either location during creation, we are considering a workaround where we save the file to standard Salesforce Files (which then syncs to Box) and subsequently delete it from Salesforce Files. We would appreciate any advice or recommended approaches to ensure we are setting up Box Sign correctly.

Yes, that's correct. Box Sign for Salesforce requires the document to already exist in either Box or Salesforce Files before it can be sent for signature, and there isn't currently a native way to send a Revenue Cloud contract directly to Box Sign as it was generated.

For customers with a similar use case, we've seen these approaches work well:

  1. Using Box Doc Gen for document generation -> since the document is generated directly in Box, it's already in the right location to immediately initiate a Box Sign request, eliminating the need for an intermediate Salesforce Files step.
  2. Using Box for Salesforce toolkit to upload the newly generated document to the appropriate Box folder and then automatically trigger the Box Sign request
