Understanding the Prorated Amounts on Your Invoice

So you’ve received an invoice from Box, but you’re feeling confused as to how on earth your invoice relates to your signed service order.

To simplify contract management for you, we align the dates of your agreements so they end at the same time. This means that in the situations described below you will have an invoice that is for less than the full year cost you see on your order form. These ‘prorated amounts’ are a result of the following scenarios:

  • Purchasing additional seats mid-term
  • Your subscription is auto-renewing before you sign the renewal order
    • Where this includes changes to your existing order, either in terms of number of licenses or type of licenses, it means there is a gap between your old service agreement which auto-renewed, and your new service agreement. We take the signature date as the effective date of the change.
  • Upgrading or downgrading your product type or number of licenses.
