Box offers a few easy ways for people to send shared links, each suited to different situations. If you just want to share a file with one or two people, sending (A) it is ideal. If you want the file to be available to a large number of people (or the public), it is better to get a link (B) to the file and post that link on your website or blog.
Note: Old Box Experience
This page refers to the old Box experience. In Box, hover over a single file or folder with your mouse. If the item looks like the following image, you are in the right place.
If the item does not look like the image above, visit one of the links below instead:
A. Sending (or: How do I send a file that’s too big for email?)
With Box, you can make bulky attachments and email bounces a thing of the past.
To send a file from your Box account, click Share to the right of your file, or open the More Options menu (...) and under Sharing, click Share Link.
A pop-up window will appear with your shared link. To email your link, simply click in the Email Address field and enter your recipients email address. You can add multiple email addresses by hitting Enter after each email address, or by separating them with a comma. Enter the addresses, include a personal message if you'd like, and click “Send”. Your recipients will soon receive an email from Box inviting them to view your shared file.
B. Linking (or: How do I link to a file in my Box account?)
Links are a great way share a file with a large number of people.
To generate a link to one of your files, click Share to the right of your file, or open the More Options menu (...) and under Sharing, click Share Link.
A pop-up window will appear with your shared link. This shared link will send your recipients to a page in Box from where they can download or preview your file. Paid Box users can also generate "Direct Links," which will directly link to a file and begin the download process immediately.
