The new Files app is a way for Apple users to manage their content no matter where files are stored (Box, iCloud, on device, etc.). Box is delivering a seamless integration with the new Files app to enhance the file management experience across iOS and make it incredibly easy for customers to access their Box content from any iOS device.

Existing customers with Spanish selected under their WebApp settings will see no difference in their language experience but their language setting will now say "Español (España)." Customers who prefer the variant of Spanish for Latin America can go to their Account Settings and select "Español (Latinoamérica)." In addition, if we see that customers' browser language is set to one of the variants of Spanish for Latin America, Box will display a banner that will make it easy for them to switch if they want.

Soon, users will see a  a prompt that will inform the user that they may have a wrong time zone selected.
The user will be able to easily go to Account Settings and change their time zone!

We are excited to launch Box for iOS 4.2! Below are what will be included in the application:

・Access your files in the new Apple Files app on iOS 11
・Collaborators can now be added to individual files
・Additional bug fixes and stability improvements

We’re always looking for ways to improve sharing and collaboration in Box. We are excited to announce that now, we have made it easier than ever to invite someone to edit a file! We have officially launched the ability to ‘invite collaborators’ to individual files (previously collaborators could only be invited at the folder level). More detailed information is available here.

With this new updated, we are planning to provide the following features to Box iOS users

・Access your files in the new Apple Files app on iOS 11
・Collaborators can will be added to individual files
・Additional bug fixes and stability improvements

Coming Soon: Box Drive Beta v.1.2

by Friday - last edited Monday by

Coming soon will be a new version of our Box Drive Beta, v.1.2. This version includes macOS 10.13 High Sierra support, improved quality of auto-updates, performance improvements at start-up, and other bug fixes. We highly encourage current users to update when available for the best experience of the product.

We're optimizing the standard Box login page to better support SSO users. Users will eventually be prompted to enter their email and password on separate pages. If your enterprise uses an SSO provider with Box, users will be taken directly from entering their email to the SSO login page, without being asked for a Box password. To see how this will be changed, check out this document!

We have added the ability to create Templates in Box Notes! Templates allow users to quickly start a Note from a set of default templates, or custom templates that they/their team created. The benefits are that new users will be able to jumpstart their first time experience with Box Notes, and existing users can share best practices and standardize on documentation across teams!

To learn more about how to use Box Note Templates, check out our Community Article!

We'll be making minor improvements to Tagging content in Box, specifically by adding a visual list of tags to pick from after clicking 'Add / Edit Tags' for an item.

We now have launched the All New Box web experience to all existing customers. The new experience has now been turned on for all Enterprise and Elite plan customers, including customers in all global regions. To help familiarize you with the new experience, we've put together an introductory video along with an online Box Education course.

This release includes bug fixes and stability improvements.

This release will include the following:
・Audio player controls are now available in the notification tray and lock screen
・New notifications that keep you in the know when interesting files are updated
・Additional bug fixes and stability improvements

We'll be adding a 'confirmation' step in the web app when performing a 'Move' to a location that is owned by a different enterprise than the item's current owner. We're implementing this change to better inform users about the ownership change and to reduce accidental moves by end users.

To more closely align with shared link permissions and collaboration functionality, we are making a slight change to one of the permission names for shared links. Specifically, the existing ‘People in this folder’ shared link name will be updated to ‘People in this file’ for shared links on files specifically. There is no change to shared link names for folders. More information about shared links can be found here.

We're continuing our rollout of the All New Box web experience to all existing customers over the coming months. The experience has been turned on for all Enterprise and Elite plan customers, including customers in certain regions. To help familiarize you with the new experience, we've put together an introductory video along with an online Box Education course. If you are an Enterprise or Elite plan customer and have questions about this migration, please reach out to your Box Customer Success Manager or Box User Services!

To ensure that Box Edit continues to work on OS 10.10 on Macs, we have released Box Tools version 3.3.9(383). This version includes Bug Fixes and Stability Improvements for Mac OSX 10.10 until the EOL date for OS 10.10 in October.

Launched: Self Service SSO

by 3 weeks ago - last edited 3 weeks ago by

We are excited to announce that we have enabled customers to configure their single-sign-on (SSO) solution directly through the Admin Console! Customers with standard SSO configurations can upload their metadata file to the Admin Console if their identity provider is one of the following: Okta, OneLogin, Azure or ADFS. Find out how, here!

Please note that this initial release will not support certificate updates for existing SSO customers or complex configurations that include email aliases or groups. If you need a certificate updated, please open a ticket with our User Services team. Furthermore, if you would like to set up SSO with other identify providers or other complex configurations, please submit an SSO Questionnaire! For more general information regarding SSO, please check out our Community article!

Note: SSO Authentication is available in Business, Business Plus, and Enterprise accounts.

We’re always looking for ways to improve sharing and collaboration in Box. To make it easier than ever to invite someone to edit a file, we are launching the ability to ‘invite collaborators’ to individual files (previously collaborators could only be invited at the folder level). You can expect to begin seeing this update in your account the week of September 18. More detailed information is available here.

Launched: Device Trust: Android support

by on ‎08-10-2017 01:04 PM - last edited 3 weeks ago by

In keeping with our commitment towards enabling the most secure way to bring your work together with Cloud Content Management (CCM), last year, Box announced the Device Trust feature that regulated access to Box based on a particular device's security posture. Device Trust ensures that only devices meeting certain configurable security criteria, such as those that are corporate managed or support Full Disk Encryption (FDE), can access Box. Our customers welcomed this feature as yet another step towards optimizing security without impacting usability or hindering collaboration.

We initially launched Device Trust with desktop support for Mac and Windows, and mobile support for iOS. Based on the recent smartphone sales data from Gartner, Android and iOS together accounted for 99.6 percent of worldwide smartphone sales in the fourth quarter of 2016, and today, we are excited to announce the expansion of Device Trust support to Android devices. This expanded device support is part of our continued push towards facilitating the transition to CCM worldwide, by enabling more users to benefit from the rich, secure collaboration capabilities provided by Box! For more information about Device Trust with Android, check our our Community Article!
