In Box iOS 4.3.8 we have launched the following updates:

  • Open a link to a Box file
  • The user is redirected to the Box iOS app and the file preview is shown
  • No additional changes to the UI state and location are made in the process of redirection
  • When the user closes the preview, the user sees the same content they were looking at before tapping the redirection linkScreen Shot 2018-10-30 at 3.11.25 PM.png

Folder redirection will continue to behave as before, taking the user to the appropriate location within the All Files tab.

Additionally, to keep the useful functionality of visiting the parent folder of the redirected file, we are introduction a new menu option to view the file's containing folder.

Last month, we discovered an unexpected behavior in the Move, Copy, and Share actions from the edit menu in the Files app that is allowing content from Managed Apps to be passed to Unmanaged Apps.

We have introduced the ability to limit this unexpected behavior in the Admin Console under the Mobile tab. By enabling this feature, we will automatically disable Files functionality for unprotected versions of iOS and automatically reenable the Files functionality when a protected version of iOS comes online. Enabling this feature means that some workflows might be affected because of turning off the Files functionality.

Workflow Example
Checkbox off
Checkbox on

Being able to see Box Files on the iOS Files app

This update of Android includes various bug fixes and enhancements as outlined below:
  • We discovered a bug where the 'Open in' functionality was not working and users were prompted with an 'An unknown error occurred...' message. Users should now be able to open files without an issue.
  • Initially, the Android app would display an error message if a user uploaded a file with the same name in the same location. To ensure users have a consistent experience on the WebApp and our mobile application, we  no longer show this message.
  • Certain push notifications would display the wrong avatar, but this update has resolved the avatar display issue.
