Some additional notes:

As we've communicated previously, the Box Web Application is about to get even better, with a simplified sharing experience that delivers a more consistent and streamlined way to share files and folders. You can find more information about the updates in this release, including screenshots of the old and new experiences, at our Simplified Sharing presentation.

Over the coming weeks, we'll be enabling the new Simplified Sharing experience for all Free (Individual) and Personal Pro users. We'd love to hear your thoughts on the new experience - simply click the 'Beta' label within the new sharing experience to give us your feedback.

Not sure what type of account you have? Simply navigate to the Account tab of Account Settings and look for the 'Account Type' field.

Note: All enterprise customers will be able to opt-in to the beta in the coming weeks via the Box Admin Console. See our Coming Soon article for more information.

Hello everyone,
We are excited to announce that we have a new Product Central that is coming soon on Community to help streamline announcements and product related content!
What is the Product Central?
The Product Central is meant to serve as a one stop shop for product related announcements, articles by product areas, betas, and product feedback. You will be able to navigate to all of these places from one singular page.
Screen Shot 2018-11-19 at 2.28.51 PM.png
So what is new?
First, we are excited to announce that our Product News page will now be branded as our "Product Updates" page. Users will be able to filter through product areas, and their statuses to find the information that they are looking for on one announcement rather than sifting through multiple announcements and pages to find this information.

Next, we will have redesigned product pages to ensure that the most relevant content is available for users to consume. Users should see a unified design across all pages and will see filtered product announcements as well.

Screen Shot 2018-11-20 at 12.27.19 PM.png

Do I have to use the filters?
No. You can always click on the status buttons to get a wholistic picture of everything under each status, but you can add filters for products that you care about and see where items are in the currently release cycle.

Do I or my users have to take any actions?
If you have previously subscribed to updates on the current Product News section, you will have to subscribe to the new Product Updates page to continue getting updates about what has been posted to the new area. Otherwise, no action is needed.

Will I still be able to access the old Product News page?
Yes! We will not be removing this page, but rather will be posting all new updates to the new Product Updates page.

Starting at the end of November, we will be removing the Box Sync promotion that appears in the web application.  The main reason for this change is that Box Drive now supports Mark for Offline capabilities, so we'd encourage new users to use Box Drive to get unlimited access to all their cloud content from the desktop.  In the near future, we also plan to start displaying a Box Drive promotion to users enabled for the product to encourage them to download it.

There is also an option within the admin console that allows administrators to enable or disable this promotion.  This setting will be deprecated in the near future.  In the meantime, any selections to this option will have no bearing on the Box product.

There is no action required from users or administrators for this change.

In this release we have included the following enhancements and bug fixes:
  • We have enabled the "Box for G Suite" feature in Box. Users who are currently on the beta will now be able to see and open G Suite files directly from Box Drive.  Users on the v1 G Suite integration will also be able to view G Suite files, but will see an error message when attempting to open the files, and will be prompted to enable the v2 integration. Once they have enabled the v2 integration, they will be able to open and work with their files.
  • Users on Windows will now see Box Drive can be localized in languages supported by Box, but will not see a localized experience for Problem Item notifications, or the first-time user experience.
  • We have fixed a bug that was causing Box Drive to crash if .boxnote files were opened from outside the Box Drive application.
  • Lastly, we have fixed a bug that was causing icons to appear slowly in Offline folders.

Starting 8:00 AM PST on November 12, 2018, Box will block applications that are using the TLS 1.0 encryption protocol. Please refer to this FAQ to learn what is TLS, and how you can upgrade your application to maintain a secure connection.

With the upcoming Box for Android 4.23 release, we will introduce the following changes:
• Improved, more efficient audio and video player experience

• Additional bug fixes and stability improvements.

iWork Integration on iOS 4.3.9 EMM
  • In November, we'll release the iWork integration on the Box EMM app. This release enables you to preview and collaborate on Keynote, Pages, and Numbers files from within Box. Now you can co-author files in real-time, preview, create, and edit iWork documents in Box -- all while securely saving your changes back to Box. You can turn on this integration for your organization from the Admin Console: Settings > Apps. To enable collaborative editing, select "iWork Collaboration." To enable Box preview of iWork documents in browser, select "iWork Previews."  The iWork Integration Guide provides more information.
Box for iOS 4.3.9 Public and EMM
• In the 4.3.9 release, we are updating the sharing interface and making it simpler for you to use. In the updated sharing interface, you'll conveniently see all the different sharing options you have. In addition, the updated sharing interface will be the same for all Sharing actions in the app.
  • Box's new mobile device UI provides a unified and streamlined experience to make collaboration easy. To collaborate, you can either invite people to contribute to a shared file or folder, or send people a separate email containing a link to the shared file or folder.

Introducing Mark for Offline in Box Drive, our latest feature that enables you to mark any folders you need for offline access and easily work on the go.

Easily select the folders you want to work with offline and Box Drive will automatically download the latest version to your computer. Make any changes you like – the files will automatically get updated on Box once you’re back online.

This feature will be enabled for your users on Box Drive 2.0 over the next 24hrs.  If they would like to immediately receive it, they can quit and relaunch Box Drive!

To lean more read our Community documentation.

In Box iOS 4.3.8 we have launched the following updates:

  • Open a link to a Box file
  • The user is redirected to the Box iOS app and the file preview is shown
  • No additional changes to the UI state and location are made in the process of redirection
  • When the user closes the preview, the user sees the same content they were looking at before tapping the redirection linkScreen Shot 2018-10-30 at 3.11.25 PM.png

Folder redirection will continue to behave as before, taking the user to the appropriate location within the All Files tab.

Additionally, to keep the useful functionality of visiting the parent folder of the redirected file, we are introduction a new menu option to view the file's containing folder.
